Legal Aid WA

WA

Legal Aid WA offers free or low-cost legal services to the community. We can help if you have questions about the law, if you are going to court, or if you need advice on a legal problem.

If you have trouble getting help because of a disability, language barriers, or your location, we will do our best to help you access our services.

Priority is often given to help people with the greatest needs. If we cannot help with your specific problem, we will try to refer you to someone who can.

Tenancy WA

Tenancy WA helps people who rent their home to resolve their tenancy problems. Call our advice line, or you can book your own appointment online under the Get Help Section of our website.

Protecting the right to housing for all tenants through advocacy, advice and education.

We are here to help you with your tenancy problem if you:

• rent a private home;
• live in public housing;
• live in community housing;
• rent a caravan or a unit in a residential park;
• are boarding in a lodging house or a private home

Youth Legal Service

Youth Legal Service provides free professional legal services to children and young people (under 25 years) residing in Western Australia. In addition to client services, Youth Legal Service plays an active role in raising awareness of the legal rights and responsibilities of children and young people. Youth Legal Service provides legal advice and casework in the following areas, subject to capacity:

• Criminal matters, including traffic offences
• Motor vehicle accidents (not personal injury)
• Contract law
• Criminal injuries compensation
• Violence and misconduct restraining orders
• Leaving home
• Spent convictions
• Appealing criminal convictions

Community Legal Centres Association (WA)

Provides a referral service to appropriate legal centres or other relevant organisations. Community Legal Centre services include information and advice; casework and minor assistance; representation and advocacy; community legal education; policy and law reform. Each Community Legal Centre may offer different services, depending on the needs of the community.

Transitional Managers (TMs) are located at each of the State’s prisons to coordinate services and a range of housing programs that will help prisoners re-enter the community.

Problem Gambling Helpline

Free support, information & telephone counselling services for people who have a problem with gambling, & family & friends of people with a gambling problem.

Communicare – Breathing Space

Breathing Space offers a behaviour change program to men who have been abusive in their intimate partner relationships. The services therapeutic community provides men with approximately three (3) months of accommodation while they undertake an intensive therapeutic program including group work, individual counselling and case management in their behaviour change journey.
